Disinfecting Vinyl Guide

The most effective way to prevent the spread of the SARS-Cov 2 coronavirus (COVID-19) on vinyl surfaces is by following CDC guidelines to regularly sanitize and disinfect. A two-step process is recommended: Sanitize first, and then disinfect. Check the manufacturer’s cleaning guide for the appropriate cleaners and disinfectants to use. Avoid mixing chemical products together. Test an inconspicuous spot before cleaning and disinfecting the entire surface.

What is the difference between sanitizing and disinfecting?

Sanitizing, or cleaning, prepares the surface for the disinfecting process. Disinfecting is the destruction of almost all germs and microbes with the use of a disinfectant, such as a diluted bleach solution or 70% isopropyl alcohol. Outdoor surfaces generally require normal cleaning only, as exposure to sunlight and weather elements reduces the time the virus can survive. The targeted use of disinfectants can be done on outdoor surfaces and objects that are frequently touched by multiple people.

Sanitizing

Use the following steps to sanitize (clean) your PVC/PU vinyl:

  • Wear disposable gloves to protect from any germs on the surface.
  • Using mild soap and warm water, wipe down the surface area to remove all dirt. For tougher stains, use a cleaner such as Formula 409 or Greenworks.
  • Dampen a clean lint-free cloth with water and thoroughly wipe the surface down to remove any chemical residue.
  • Dry the surface with a clean lint-free cloth.

Disinfecting

Use the following steps to disinfect your PVC/PU vinyl:

  • Wear disposable gloves to protect from any germs on the surface.
  • If using bleach, check the label to make sure it is for disinfection and has a sodium hypochlorite concentration of 5%-6%. Mix bleach and water in a dilution of 10% bleach to 90% water (1:10). Apply to a clean lint-free cloth and wipe down the surface, leaving wet for at least one minute.
  • If using 70% isopropyl alcohol, apply to a clean lint-free cloth and wipe down the surface.
  • Dampen a clean lint-free cloth with water and thoroughly wipe the surface down to remove any chemical residue.
  • Dry the surface with a clean lint-free cloth.

Disinfecting Fabric Guide

The most effective way to prevent the spread of the SARS-Cov 2 coronavirus (COVID-19) on fabric surfaces is by following CDC guidelines to regularly sanitize and disinfect.

Disinfecting is the destruction of almost all germs and microbes with the use of a disinfectant, such as a diluted bleach solution or 3% hydrogen peroxide. Outdoor surfaces generally require normal cleaning only, as exposure to sunlight and weather elements reduces the time the virus can survive. The targeted use of disinfectants can be done on outdoor surfaces and objects that are frequently touched by multiple people.

Sanitizing

Use the following steps to sanitize (clean) your fabric:

  • Wear disposable gloves to protect from any germs on the surface.
  • Vacuum surface. For tougher stains requiring deeper cleaning refer to your fabrics’ cleaning code to find out what kinds of cleaners are safe to use on your fabric.
  • Make sure you test any cleaner on an inconspicuous spot first.

Disinfecting

Use the following steps to disinfect your fabric pattern if listed below:

Patterns: 215, 250, 620, 625, 865, 900, 932, 934, 968, 2202, 2218, 3200, 3325, 3336, 3340, 5655, 9400, 9420, 9430, 9455, 9475, 9850

  • Wear disposable gloves to protect from any germs on the surface.
  • Using 3% hydrogen peroxide, put into a misting spray bottle and carefully spray onto fabric surface.
  • Let it sit for 6 to 8 minutes.
  • Dampen a clean lint-free cloth with water and thoroughly wipe the surface down to remove any chemical residue. Allow fabric to air dry.
